Tax Invoice

An invoice that meets tax-authority requirements, showing the seller's tax registration and the tax charged — required for claiming GST credits.

A tax invoice is an invoice that satisfies your tax authority's formal requirements. In Australia it must show the seller's identity and ABN, the date, a description of items, the GST amount (or a statement that the total includes GST), and the words "Tax Invoice" for sales of $82.50 or more.

Buyers generally need a valid tax invoice to claim input tax credits, so issuing compliant ones protects your clients as well as you.
