Quote / Estimate
A priced proposal issued before work begins. A quote is typically fixed; an estimate is an informed approximation.
A quote sets out proposed work and its price before the client commits. Strictly, a quote is a fixed price while an estimate is an approximation — stating which one you're giving avoids disputes later.
Accepted quotes convert to invoices, and comparing quoted versus actual costs over time sharpens future pricing.
